The main types of prosthetics by type of installation

There are three main types of professional dental prosthetics according to the method of installation in the oral cavity:

• Non-removable. The return of the missing tooth or its part with installed prostheses (crowns, bridges, inlays, veneers). They are installed in the oral cavity reliably and firmly for constant wear. Installation is carried out with special dental materials that reliably connect the supporting parts of the prosthesis with preserved dental crowns or roots.
• Removable. Missing teeth are restored by the manufacture and installation of removable dentures (fully, partially or conditionally removable). In this way, as a rule, a large defect is replaced when most or all of the teeth in the jaw are missing. In some situations, removable dentures are used for minor dentition defects.
• Combined. Such restoration is implemented by orthopedic products, which consist of removable and non-removable elements.

Designs used in modern prosthetics

Currently, traditional metal-ceramic and non-metal structures are used, which have the best biological compatibility and aesthetic perfection. These are bridges, zircon and all-ceramic crowns, onlays, inlays, half crowns, veneers. They are characterized by aesthetics, ease and accuracy of refinement, as they are manufactured on modern high-precision equipment. The materials of such prostheses are non-oxidizing, which prevents the gums from igniting and the appearance of “dark rainbows” over time.

The choice depends on the situation, the clinical picture, the requirements for aesthetics, as well as on the financial resources of the patient. Zircon bridge prostheses are characterized by strength not inferior to metal, as well as bioinertness. They are aesthetic and light for loading an abutment. Crowns and half-crowns, overlays, inlays are designs for one tooth, which provide it with the opportunity to survive over time and fully function. Usually crowns and semi-crowns are designed for teeth that are badly damaged, or that have been treated endodontically.

Advantages of installing inlays and veneers

Inlays or pads are an alternative to filling, used for prosthetics in case of partial destruction or damaged teeth. The main preferred characteristics are:

The main types of removable dentures

The most comfortable removable dentures are buoyels, in which missing teeth and chewing function of the jaw are restored. These designs are genetic, depending on the location and size of the defect, the number of missing teeth. The buoyels are strong and stable, they are based on metal. They are attached to their own healthy teeth with special locks.

Full and partial removable plastic prostheses are also used. This option is intended for those cases when implantation is impossible for one reason or another. They restore chewing and aesthetic function, allow you to eat properly and with pleasure.
