What is caries?
Caries is a tooth disease in which enamel and dentin are destroyed, as a result, damage is formed on its surface – a “hole”. It begins without any particular symptoms. First, tooth enamel is damaged, dark or light spots appear on it. Then, in the absence of timely treatment, cavities in the tooth are formed. If left untreated, the tooth nerve can be affected, which can lead to very serious and unpleasant consequences.
The main and acceptable methods of treating caries
The elimination of caries, regardless of complexity and spread, begins with the examination stage. For a more accurate diagnosis, dentists use radiography.
Our Center of Practical Dentistry, depending on the stage of the disease, treats caries in the following ways:
- Without preparation. This is the elimination of caries without the process of “drilling” hard tooth tissues. It is carried out only in the case of the initial stage, when the enamel has changed color, spots have appeared on it.
- By promptly removing the affected tissue, followed by filling in the defect on the tooth surface.
In some cases of tooth damage, it is possible to replace fillings and restorations with more advanced and reliable structures, such as ceramic inlays, linings or half crowns. If this option is acceptable, the doctors of our dental center will be happy to inform you about the benefits and perform this work for patients at a high professional level.
